Volunteeer Opportunities


1 A). Silverado Hospice, Los Angeles: This volunteer work is looking for volunteers that can accompany termally ill patients who are lonely and in the verge of dieing. The volunteers have to be willing to read the newspaper to them, listen to soothing music and share stories. 

   B) Providence TrinityCare Hospice:  This volubnteer work is about making a difference in patient's lives. There's differint areas like art, crafts, transportation, and office and administration. 

   C)"Creative Comapion" California Hospital Medical Center: These volunteers get to draw, sketch, or paint with their patients. Almost like art therapist. The patients and volunteer talk about a place of story and the volunteer tries to draw it with the help of the patient's imagination. 

   D) Sydney Cooper Senior Smiles: This volunteer work requires socializing with seniors who would benefit from companionship. You have to have a big heart and open mind. And the schedule is flexible. 



3) You can apply to these volunteer positions by printing out a form that is provided in the website, you can also visit the place and take a look at the positions they offer and get your sing up form there. Some of the volunteer works require a background check.

Health Educator 


Duties and Responsibilities: They teach people about behaviors that promote good health.
 They are responsibible for organizing schedules to help improve the health of an individual or communities.
 They create and implimate health education programs for the generaal public 

Salary: 61,000

Education: Most health educator jobs require a bachelor’s degree at minimum and some employers may prefer candidates who also are Certified Health Education Specialists, the BLS reports. Undergraduate fields of study include health promotion or health education, and often include an internship.
In some cases, health educators may require a master’s degree, particularly for employment with state or federal public health agencies.
In order to be effective, health educators must be able to evaluate information and data, build rapport with a diverse group of people and express themselves clearly, both verbally and in writing.


Relection: No, I dont think i would want to become one because Health has never really been an interest in me. I don't think i would enjoy this job, it's not something i would ever consider becoming,

Environmental Health Specialist 


Duties and Responsiblities: They protect the environment by identifying problems and finding solutions to minimize or elimate hazards that may harm environments or populations, 
Responsiblities can include inspectation or analysis of environmental conditions as well as creating and maintaining environment policies. 


Salary: $51,294 - $62,982

Education: Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist Issued by the California State Department of Health Services and also graduation from a 4 year college with a major in evironmental health science. 








Reflection: Yes, This job career has always interested me but until now, I saw the depth of this career. I would want to become one because i would be helping and contributing to saving the environment and the people that live in it. The point of this job is to make an impactful difference in this poluted, contaminated world that we live in.

Registered Dietitian

Duties and Responsibilities: A nutrition food expert who has the credential to qualify as “RD”. Most work in the treatment and prevention of disease. Most work in health facilities and community health care centers.


Salary: $55, 240


Education:  A Bachelor’s degree with course wok approved by the Academy’s Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietectics.
Complete, supervised, experimental practice program at a health care facility
Pass a national examination administered by the Commission on the Dietectic Registration








Reflection: No i dont think i would want to ever become one because it doesnt catch my attention and I dont show any interest in this carreer pathway at all. It's not something i would consider doing my whole life.

Yoga Therapist

Duties and Responsiblilities: Their number one job is to keep their clients healthy, flexible and safe. They have to make sure that all poses are executed correctly to avoid any injuries, so they have to be very observant. They also sometimes have to provide the clients with yoga mats. They also have instruct the patients and give them breathing techniques. 

Salary: 36,900-66,530 

Education: yoga therapy training is neccessary. A 200 hour based certification is required in order to conduct yoga and teach in various places. 



Reflection: No, i dont think i would like to become on because ive never actually have been interested in yoga. I wouldnt want to be streatching all day with people i dont know, everyday for the rest of my life. I'm not a very active person, so i dont think i would be fit for the job. Plus, i would get bored of it very quickly,

Chinese (Oriental) Medicine

Duties and Responsibilities: Use herbal medicines and have various mind and body practices, such as acupuncture, tai chi, qi gong, and tuina in order to treat health problem. Restores health and balance.

Salary: $52,000

Education: MSOM degree (master of oriental medicine) and 2 years of training





Reflection: Yes i would like to become on because acupuncture fascinates me a lot and i think it would be a very intersing career, Chinese medicine also is interesitng, the fact that this medicine has been around for hundreds of years.
